Likewise, doesn't it take a certain level of ego to live in a nice house [[and more so in a nice neighborhood), drive a nice car, wear nice clothes, attain higher education, send your kids to good schools, work out, have a job that pays more than average, date/marry an attractive/successful person, etc.?
