    Says who?

There's no Cass Corridor, Corktown, Delray or Brightmoor either technically, but local people know those areas by description.

And it's a place mentioned in a song --- so what if it can't be found on a map? Is there a Hotel California? Maybe, maybe not. I don't know or care.

Those are all names of neighborhoods. They're proper nouns. But south Detroit is a relative geographical description. Sometimes those descriptions become names. For example, there's southwest Detroit [[a description) and there's Southwest Detroit [[the name of a specific place).

There is no south Detroit [[relative geographical description). There could be an area named South Detroit, but there isn't one of those either. The song is referring to a place that doesn't exist, and that's just how it is.

On the album cover? It's the Beverly Hills Hotel, owned @ that time by Detroiter Ben Silberstein-or you can stay @ this Best Western, your choice
