It's my understanding that the narco-wars are the result of the U.S. commanding Mexican forces to militarize the "War on Drugs," with hundreds of deaths as the result. Repeat: Instituting military tactics has turned lots of northern Mexico into a kind of meat grinder.

But, hey, maybe it'll be different if we try militarizing it this time.
