Fabio Viviani to open first Detroit restaurant in former Calexico space

The Chicago-based hospitality group led by celebrity chef Fabio Viviani on Wednesday announced plans to open a new, yet-to-be-named Italian and Mediterranean concept on the ground floor of the office building. It will set up in the Bedrock-owned space previously occupied by Calexico Detroit, which closed in January after a little more than six years in business there. The Fabio Viviani property will operate as a full-service restaurant with a bar, according to a spokesperson. The company website lists a Bar Cicchetti bites & booze location as "coming soon" in Detroit, but it was not confirmed if that is what is going into One Campus Martius.
The opening will bring more than 50 jobs to the area, according to the spokesperson.
