At first glance one would think because their products are made in Italy the production costs would be higher, but sense most of the top brands factory’s are located in Prato, outside of Florence, which also employs the highest population of illegal Chinese immigrants,so they might as well be made in China,it’s based on the same economics.

Their employee uniforms used to be made in Turkey.

I remember Forever 21 used to pay $12-$16 for the jeans they sold for $80-$100.

You can open a clothing factory in Honduras and pay no taxes or any outside costs,as long as you employ 250 plus, workers pay weekly kick backs in order to retain their jobs, figure $300 a month in pay divided by 60-70 hours a week with no over time,it’s pretty cheap to produce anything clothing related.

A trend that nearly became a trend again when there were attempts to loot the Nike and the now-closed Under Armour during 2020's George Floyd protests. Closest they got was destroying Under Armour's doors.

lol and it was some white middle aged male loser. Probably a chaos tourist who drove into the city for that. They must have been really disappointed since nothing happened in Detroit those days compared to other cities.

A LOT of violence happened in Detroit during the Summer of Floyd, and if you disagree then you weren't there on the streets and/or you don't live in Detroit. Here's a shooting from the very beginning of the unrest:

    https://www.mlive.com/news/saginaw-b...s-violent.html

By the way, the perpetrator of this MURDER was a black male, not a "white middle aged male loser".

Same demographic responsible for these two recent heartless murders in January:

    https://patch.com/michigan/detroit/d...fatal-shooting

These aren't "chaos tourists" or "white middle aged male losers". These are black male residents of Detroit.

That's nice dear... The man vandalizing Under Armour [[which was the only damage that happened to downtown retail) doesn't exactly fit your narrative though.

Also random shootings this January has nothing to do with the topic.

You just cannot leave that kind of merchandise in the windows of a street retail store overnight. Maybe they plan to have 24 hour security but even then it would be difficult to stop a smash and grab. This isn't a reflection on Detroit. It's just the way it is everywhere these days.

Gucci franchise will take that risk.

Nike, Shinola, Lululemon, would beg to differ, just to name a few

Yep! I think they can yet do the merch on window display in 'downtown' Detroit, but not so for non-downtown on say Davison Avenue, or Hayes and Harper.

Parts of California and NYC are having brazen smash n' grabs [including their high-end merchants] per their no-arrest policies if items under a certain amount etc [which they are often above - such as the jewel grabs]. A self-induced problem per how they processes and affirm crime.

Some stores including CVS/ Walgreens etc. are closing.

At some point it just gets ludicrous:

Locking up SPAM? For some Hawaii vendors, they have to -- to stop thieves
A store owner in Nuuanu says he leaves the SPAM out in the open and that in a tight knit community, locals keep an eye out....
At first I thought it was an Onion story.

I know a guy who lived there for a year. They eat spam more than we eat chicken. Served b/l/d in a variety of ways. Don't think it's THAT valuable though.

I wouldn't compare those stores with Gucci. Nike's stuff costs them about 2-20 bucks each. Lululemon? Who's going to fence yoga pants? Shinola has hardly any items in the window.
