Detroit
Institute of Arts
The
DIA was designed with a circular driveway passing by the elegant
main entrance. Dominating this entrance is the institution's
most renowned sculpture, Rodin's Thinker.
Starting sometime in the nineties,
parking began being allowed on this plaza, perhaps as some perquisite
for museum donors. No one is really certain why and when
it was decided to convert this beautiful area in to a parking
lot.
