8 MILE ROAD
The building of Detroit's first expressways, starting in the early
50's, initiated a migration of Euro American Detroiters to the newly forming suburbs
north of 8 Mile.
For both suburban Detroiters and Detroit dwellers crossing
eight mile is loaded with hidden meaning giving an otherwise forgettable
roadway a special status in the hearts and minds of Detroiters.
