Too funny. I was scrolling this thread and uttered out loud the same response to Sy's rationalization of his support for the Donald before I even saw Baseline's reply.
Our former mayor probably will get a pardon/commutation sometime before his sentence ends. His sentence is perhaps the harshest ever given to someone convicted of public corruption. The pardon certainly won't come from President Obama. It won't come for at least a decade. He will have to become a model prisoner and he will have to admit to his guilt. And by participating in the process he will also have to acknowledge the crimes of his co-conspirator and best friend, Mr. Ferguson.
It's entirely possible that President Obama would shorten Kilpatrick's prison term. Not a pardon though but it would be a mistake either way.Our former mayor probably will get a pardon/commutation sometime before his sentence ends. Any action by President Obama would indeed be a huge mistake. It won't happen though because Mr. Kilpatrick would have to first admit his guilt. It seems that Kilpatrick is a long way from doing that. There's very little chance that he will "fess up" before Obama leaves office. It's entirely possible that President Obama would shorten Kilpatrick's prison term.
