Rainbow Chips?
never heard of 'em.
http://bmchips.com/Better-Made-Rainb...ato-Chips.aspxOnce a year, in the spring, when Better Made is using potatoes that have been stored, by the farmer, for the winter a strange thing happens.
Some of the potatoes, while they are stored build up a higher content of sugar. When these potatoes are sliced and fried into chips they tend to turn dark. They are not burnt. They also have a sweeter taste.
These potato chips are called Rainbow Chips.
Luscious! To be enjoyed with a good bock beer.
As an eastsider, I would often join my childhood friends and bicycle down Gratiot to watch the Better Made chips as they were manufactured. The assembly line was visible through the large windows that faced the street.
Oh, man. That sounds good....
I suddenly have a taste for potato chips now... thanks guys!
I remember the individual dark chips, but not the "rainbow" name or season. Now, Strohs and Frankenmuth "Bock" beer is a whole different matter.
Bock beer with a little bit of salt - yummm. Better Made - just the chip - no dip!

I know it's tax day and all - but is anybody else having trouble getting on to the search engines ?
Wait a minute...
Am I just now finding out BetterMade has an online store???
Never heard of these, thanks for the info!
Anyone know if you can go to the chip factory and buy these or other products?
Thnx
oooohhh yeah... sweet nectar of the gods!
I've just placed my order--along with a couple of shirts.
I cannot wait until the chips arrive!
Thanks for the info!
I just waltzed into the Better Made store and moonwalked out with Rainbow Chips in hand.
I had some last week ...The Plant Mgr brought them in [[Amvets) post for a test run...Very fresh and very Good
Might have to try some one day.
Where can these be found in local stores ?
They can't. Better Made store on Gratiot or via phone order only.
I love Better Made chips, but their radio jingle is suckey.
Has anybody tried the chocolate covered chips? Had no idea they made them.
Yeah, we bought a tin of them before... they were really good, but after a while the chocolate can be overwhelming...
Wasn't sure if we could refrigerate them to keep the chocolate cooler but potentially make the chips soggy inside.
