Downtown is the absolute dumbest place to pull something like this. Cameras and security are everywhere.
Unlike Chicago, New York, and other major cities where snatch and run flash mobs raid tge stores Detroit catches their shoplifters and don't have flash mobs raiding it's retail strips
^ Yep. Plus culturally and policy-wise Detroit has not obligatorily given over completely to crime. But that could change... I hope not.
Do we really want to descend to this?

Hah! Haven't heard that one in a while ["D-D" as that's also called]!
Some are getting so brazen they break in while you're IN YOUR CAR!

Caught them all in Gilbert Town Detroit with lots of security and green light cameras watching.
Yes our massive retail theft problems aren't quite as bad as theirs. That's something to hang your hat on.
Just a bit north Canada is seeing a spike... Aye, say what!?

Most of the thefts are org. crime. CBC did a story where they found vehicles on dealer lots in Africa, where most cars are taken. They called the owners back in Ontario and told them what was still on their car seat. A couple even still had Ontario plates. My niece left the driveway for her airport job at 3:00 am. She was parked behind my sister's car. My sister's new car was stolen at 3:10 according to their webcam. Some Toronto new car dealers are selling more vehicles to replace theft than to new customers.Just a bit north Canada is seeing a spike... Aye, say what!?

^ Agreed! Strong-running cars [as they'd have to be to withstand the rougher and un-paved roads in parts of Africa] would be prime for these rings.
