My brother & I were at that 1971 All Star game standing behind home plate in the lower deck because our actual seats were in the rear of the left field outfield area behind a post. Many future Hall of Famers played in that game and it was a chance to see Mays, Aaron, Clemente, Rose, Bench, etc. that normally didn't play in Detroit since they were in the National League. Their manager was Sparky Anderson of the Cincinnati Reds. It was an entertaining game won by the American League with the help of Jackson's home run hit into the light tower!
