Even if he did nothing else for the rest of the new term,he has already done what has not been done in the city for the last 30 years,along with the residents,which was placing the city in a financial situation where it dictates the interests for borrowing money instead of the rates being dictated to the city by the lenders.

That translates into millions per year that can now be invested back into the city and not having to increase taxes for the next 20 years or the terms of each bond sale.

His job is to instill hope in the city but just as important,instill hope in the financial community.

But it also sends a message country wide that the residents are not standing for the mistakes of the past,I kinda think that is where the real Detroit spirit resides,there are always obstacles and the residents keep showing that no matter what or how bad they are or were,they have the fortitude to keep pressing on.

At the end of the day,results count everything else is window dressing and this country would be a lot better off if more people followed the example set and hold those that they entrust to a higher standard,no need to settle for less.

Good job Detroiters,as you have scratched and dug your way up out of that hole,you are an inspiration to the rest of the country and an example of what Americans can achieve when they set their minds to something.
