I believe the one in Rock Ridge is still in operation.
Thanks, that's one I used to frequent. Many Howard Johnson restaurants had the MMC design motif, which would be valued today if they hadn't been destroyed.
There is still one Bangor ME.
Had my First Communion breakfast there.I remember a number of elementary school birthday parties at the local Howard Johnson located on Mack Ave near Vernier in Grosse Pointe Woods. Roughly where the Kroger currently stands today.

Bangor closed in 2016. The last remaining restaurant is in Lake George, NY. Within the past few years, I saw it featured in one of the PBS travelogues:

Most of the online reviews rate it mediocre and "not as good as I remember". Not unusual when dabbling in nostalgia. In reality, we've probably changed more than the source of nostalgia itself, but have difficulty admitting it.
