Marijuana grow facility on the Canadian side of Lake St. Clair. Every night...
Yeah, I wanted to start a thread about this. I mean this glow, when there are low hanging clouds, is quite noticeable in the night sky. At one point I just thought it was a harvest moon, until I saw the moon in the sky to the right of the glow. Then I knew it was something else.
Have fun with your joints, little kiddies. Just give me another Bud, and I'm just as happy.
It's not just cannabis, it's also vegetable and flower greenhouses.
umm how long before some legal hammer comes down on this?
Missing long-time DYes member Gannon here. I'd love to hear his opinion on the lights glowing.........
Maybe that was the cause of the Windsor hum all along.
I could see having a glass roof if they wanted to save utility costs by making use of natural light, but letting so much bulb driven light escape during the evening doesn't make much economic sense.
The weed they're growing doesn't cross the border, but I understand the flowers & veggies do. I've heard some Canadians from other parts of the country refer to the Windsor area as the arm-pit of Canada, but never the Riviera.
My bell peppers for tonight's stir-fry are from Leamington's greenhouses.
They are starting to crackdown on it. Sounds like crafting the proper legislation is a challenge.
Leamington waits to follow Kingsville’s lead on ‘light pollution’ bylaw
So, from the maps provided, which one is the one most featured in the pic up top?
The area between Kingsville and Leamington has long had greenhouses for tomatoes, but in recent years these operations have really consolidated and expanded and now grow peppers, cucumbers, and other things. I've seen vegetables labelled Leamington or Kingsville in supermarkets in NYC, Washington DC, North Carolina and elsewhere.
Viewed from Highway 34 [[formerly 3) the valley west of Leamington is now just a sea of greenhouses. The area north of Leamington is now heavy with agribusiness of all sort for miles, and legalized marijuana has of course added to this economy.
One of the items that are grown in the greenhouses of Essex County [[Windsor+) Ontario is a personal favorite, and available at certain fruit markets... is called Shepherds Peppers... long red peppers that are sweeter than regular red peppers, and are a regular import to the Detroit area.
