I think they need to fix that headline: how is the dead man demanding answers?

That was my bad.... 'Family' demands answers! My time is more limited now working from home furiously - typing too fast during my break.
Bad re-typing of headline, but yeah I see horrid, misleading, typo-laden headlines all the time...

To the point: Here we go with another questionable shooting. Where it seems the shooter was not in immediate danger...?
Sooner or later the NRA cult will lose their stranglehold on legislators and judges.
Most 'bullet proof' glass won't stop an AK-47. Here's the rating system: https://www.tssbulletproof.com/blog/...tem-explained/
This was a mess. And examining the variance of gun removal or rights most are not the nuts, criminal, ultra violent, or NRA devotee, right-winged or otherwise. They do don't want to loose their right to bear arms. For self-defense should that time come [[it happened to a family members - home invasion). Especially seeing as how civility is quickly breaking down.
HOWEVER, that does not excuse what seems [[from news reports so far) the over-reaction of this merchant. What was going on to bring on such as over-action? As it stands I avoid most gas stations and the bullish attitudes at all levels [[including some of the patrons) and the rip off pricing.
But so many are trapped, captive to these places - even having to purchase their basic food-stuff at these gas stations. What's going on?

Here come Black Lives Matter.
Those who try to rob a merchant at the point of a gun deserve whatever they get. No tears here. To the robber, that merchant's life didn't mean squat. Why should his?
https://www.wxyz.com/news/suspect-in...-investigationThe prosecutor's office has returned the warrant request to DPD, pending further investigation. The office says this is the third time in the past week a warrant request had to be returned due to missing reports.
“The Gratiot gas station shooting occurred on Monday, Oct. 12. We did not receive the warrant request until Wednesday, Oct. 14, and it was missing documents necessary for a proper review and charging decision," said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. "We will not have the information that we need today. As a result, by law ,the suspect will be released today pending a charging decision in this case."
“Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened or even the 20th, but it seems to be occurring with much more frequency lately. Just yesterday, we had two other homicide cases that had to be returned to DPD because they were missing so many basic reports and evidence that it completely prevented us from going forward. This is very disturbing.”
https://www.wxyz.com/news/region/way...m-coin-machineA spokesperson for the City of Detroit's Buildings, Safety Engineering, and Environmental Department [[BSEED) said the gas station does not have a license to operate or a certificate of compliance.
City officials said they are working with the police department and the law department to formally close down the business.
Good. That's a start.
There are so many of these kinds of illicit/ illegal business in the city. I try to stay within my own faved trajectory of semi-retched gas stations if I must. More will be revealed on this particular case.

“Online records of the Michigan Department of Corrections show that Mr. Joshua Lewis had been released from jail in September because of COVID and had absconded from parole Oct. 2.”
“Officials say at about 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 12 Hizam observed Lewis breaking the glass of a “coin pusher” game with a hammer.”
^^^ What is a 'coin pusher'? Initially I thought it was a perhaps a CoinStar machine that gives you a voucher for money in exchange for turning in coins.
But those are usually only found at grocery stores or the dumb casinos...

Neither of which are death penalty offenses nor put the clerk in immediate fear of his life.“Online records of the Michigan Department of Corrections show that Mr. Joshua Lewis had been released from jail in September because of COVID and had absconded from parole Oct. 2.”

One thing I'm curious about that would make a HUGE difference. Did the clerk aim and fire with intent of hitting the guy? Or did he crack off a round wildly with intent to scare that hit in an unfortunate way?
Fire a warning shot with an AK 47 [[or any other weapon) in an enclosed place through what is supposed to be bulletproof glass? I can’t see anybody doing that, even an amped up 18 year old kid cashier.
The point of my post was to point out that Mr. Lewis has had at least one previous run-in with the law. We all make mistakes so the state gave him a second chance and let him out on parole. And what did Mr. Lewis do with his new lease-on-life? Well, he violated his parole and became a wanted man, then he decided it would be a good idea to go to the corner party store and commit another crime by smashing a “coin pusher” with a hammer. Does this story sound familiar? It’s the George Floyd story but with a new cast of characters. It goes like this: get in trouble and go to jail; get out and commit new crimes; get killed in the process. Same story as in Ferguson, Baltimore, and everywhere else. What is the moral of this sad story?“Online records of the Michigan Department of Corrections show that Mr. Joshua Lewis had been released from jail in September because of COVID and had absconded from parole Oct. 2.”
