My Vietnamese-born, American-educated doctor with an office in one of NY's Chinatowns to serve the local community advised me to try to avoid all food products with ingredients from China.
Some of his advice: avoid vitamin supplements. Get them naturally from a healthy diet instead. Most supplements are made in China and can cause more harm than good. Poor manufacturing and fraud are much bigger problems there than they are here. So when deciding between orange juice and orange juice with extra vitamins, buy the simpler stuff. Milk too. And if you're lucky enough to still have a local bakery, get your bread there, not the plastic-wrapped vitamin-"enriched" food putty from the aisles.
