Amazing! I thought it was going to be held in Venezuela!
Lets hope we have some good candidates this time instead of picking the lesser of two evils.
so where? Cobo? Ren Cen? How can the public attend?
Prediction! Identity politics and the promise of free stuff will force the Dems to nominate a socialist colored women for candidacy [[gay for bonus points). Trump slam dunks 2020.
Or it will be like throwing a piece of meat to a bunch of starving cats, they will spend all of thier time distracted tearing each other up while Trump wins again.
My grandfather was born in 1909. Throughout his life, he called Poles, Polacks, and Hungarians, Hunkies, and worse, usually to their face. By the time he died in 1994, he wouldn't have used the phrase, 'colored woman'. When were you born?
This site is full of old crotchety white men that took full advantage of a country that they didn't build while voting for tax cuts for the wealthy and endless wars. Most of them were able to get good jobs with just a high school diploma and if they went to college it wasn't that expensive. They fear everything which is why most of them fled the city as more minorities came into the city. They call some of the same policies their parents voted for during the FDR years socialism now. They racked up the debt over and over again to favor themselves. They were fake and phony during the Vietnam era with their summers of love and everything else. Even people like Jim Morrison said pretty much that the only reason that culture could exist is because of a bunch of middle class spoiled white folks. You really can't reason with them, just hope they die off and quickly.
^ and some of them were like the ones before them at 18 were on a battlefield giving thier lives for thier country.
Not sure what circles you run in but I know lots of old folk of all races and colors that made good in life, the ones that took the initiative anyways and did not wait to have it handed to them.
What exactly has the younger generation built? Outside of violent video games and lists of discrepancies based on things that they do not understand?
It was no different for most back then as it is today, struggle and unfairness is a part of the ride,it is how one chooses to deal with it,some like the path of least resistance and blame everybody else.
FDRs policies, mostly influenced by his wife, were based on a temporary hand up when in dire straights and not life long government support.
They were designed to instill hope and a little pride when somebody was going through a hard time and not corral into desperation in order to look like the nice guy that saves to day, which is socialist,
There is a big difference.

Not that old. I used the word colored for two reasons:
1. It is apparently politically incorrect to use the word “black”. When did that change?
2. I think the Libs will go full virtue signally by nominating an African American-Latino women. Forced diversity maybe?
Not agreeing or disagreeing with thier choices. Neither am I a Republican but I do lean right [[anti war fiscally conservative constitutionalist). What pisses me off is how the Democrats have put thier political biases before the country. It’s all “orange man bad” no matter what Trump does. I also think, despite the constant attacks from the left, especially after the Russian Collusion debacle, his base has strengthened. He’ll be hard to beat so the left better wise up if they want a chance.
^^^Hah, to weigh in on the nomenclature relative to what black folks are called: In academia and politics it seems best to use the word African-American or woman, man or [[safer yet) person of color. Black people I know here in the D mostly use black in relation to each other [[I'm black and ok with that).
To the original point, the dems must reign in the extremes in their party, understanding the being solely reactionary to Trump will not nominate a candidate. Middle America is not interested in extremes. The radicals, in pragmatic style, will only further set people against each other.
Perhaps that's the larger goal? Anyway, as another poster stated can we finally have "some good candidates this time instead of picking the lesser of two evils"?
We've been there, done that.

Step outside of politics for a moment everyone. Take a look at the larger picture.
It's amazing that a political party has chosen Detroit to conduct a debate. It's a far-cry from Reagan in 1980 and the Republican National Convention.
This is a huge step for the city to be able to hold an event of this magnitude. Embrace it, enjoy it.
Now, back to your usual debates!
^^^ Good point Z!
^^^ agree. Anything that shines a positive light on Detroit is good news.
It's completely political, for the same reason they chose Milwaukee for the DNC.Step outside of politics for a moment everyone. Take a look at the larger picture.

They're trying to get back in the good graces of Rust Belt voters they lost in 2016 by doing these events and claiming "hey, we went to MI/WI and at least tried!"
