Hopefully this is just the beginning! As someone that deals in OEM auto parts it's astonishing to see how many parts and vehicles have gone from production in the U.S to Mexico over the last decade. The weakened Peso is only making the export of these US jobs more appealing, so I'm glad to see we may now have someone in Washington with the abilty to do something about it.
Nope. Not what it seems. If one listens to that report, rather than read that deceptive headline, Ford simply reshuffled plans. Instead of building a new plant they are expanding an existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico.
“Ford had originally planned to build its Ford Focus in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.[the new plant] The company said it will continue to build its Focus at an existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, to improve company profitability.”
The expansion of the Flat Rock plant is a completely separate and unrelated project.[battery and autonomous]. For all we know that was already in the works. By announcing the two together they deceive one into thinking they have backed out of Mexico.
No jobs are being brought back. The 700 in Flat Rock are new and would not have gone to the now cancelled plant/expanded plant in Hermosillo.

A big U-turn for Ford
The news is a major U-turn for Ford. Last year, the company announced it would invest $1.6 billion in Mexico to transfer the production of the Ford Focus from Michigan to Mexico to save costs. Now the Focus will be built at an existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, and Ford will expand its plant in Flat Rock
"This is a vote of confidence" in Trump and the economy, said Fields. We are "encouraged by pro growth policies, particularly reform around tax and regulatory policies."
Trump repeatedly slammed Ford on the campaign trail, claiming the company was moving good manufacturing jobs to Mexico. He vowed to slap a 35% tariff on Ford vehicles made in Mexico and sold in the U.S., although experts say it is not possible for Trump do that to a single U.S. company.

You can downplay the significance of these changes, but Ford's decision to cancel the new plant in Mexico is a big deal! This might not be jobs coming back from Mexico [[yet), but the announcement alone shows that Trump's threats and public shaming are influencing their actions.Nope. Not what it seems. They could care less about Trump, other than using him as PR foil. Here is the real story of why they are not building a new Focus plant but are building a new addition to Hermosillo. Focus sales are cratering. You can downplay the significance of these changes, but Ford's decision to cancel the new plant in Mexico is a big deal! Ford is making lemonade out of lemons. As mentioned above, the Flat Rock hiring is not something they do on the spot. Combining it with a totally unrelated cut back [and Not a cessation] to building new plant space in Mexico is pure PR.

Mark Fields announced back on 9-16-16, that Ford would be moving all small car production to Mexico, citing cost prohibiting production here in the States. That means one of two things, either this PR show was setup 3 months ago figuring Donald would be the next President, or, Ford's marketing and sales department was totally unaware of your declining small car sales chart. Perhaps Mark and Bill should start reading DetroitYES! posts instead?

It's going to be great. Trump is already running rings round these stupid Democtats and he isn't even President yet [[incidentally where's Obama?). I heard the funniest aside on Fox News today [[THAT'S FOX NEWS); Trump had just TWEETED that a fourteen year old could have hacked into the DNC and it was claimed by Fox that Podesta's password was PASSWORD - and this is representative of the idiots that have been in charge!!!.
"...and though the crowd crowd clapped desperately they could not see the joke..."
Actually, the quote from a very old Procol Harum song was directed at the applause from those who believe the future president is on their side. Time will tell. He is the ultimate con artist.

Mrs. Clinton was the ultimate con artist, however the people saw right through that. Trump is just as surprised @ his victory as everyone else.
They saw right through it so well that they can't even prove it.
Proof not being a requirement, as the President-Elect has demonstrated.
Yep, nothing to see here.

As a Trump voter, I have to observe that his "Twitterings" have been juvenile and non-Presidential . I do hope he ceases. In Detroit terms, "Quit that shit, Donald!".
I think he is where he is at because people were not looking for a politician, personally I would rather deal with his tweets with a grain of salt or form of amusement at the reactions, then a politician that smiles at me and promises the world while stabbing me in the back.
Imagine the relief awakening from a nightmare that Gary Busey had somehow managed to become President of The United States. Whew. But then YIKES! !

They might be able to assemble iPhones and other Apple products in California and Texas say, but you'll prolly have to lasso busloads-a-Mexicans and corral them into concentration work camps to accomplish the same drudgery with quality control of that order.
Maybe a light green card Factory in it in Mexican Town.

No wonder Trump hates on the media: they are all ultra leftwing bashers of the capitalist agenda, beginning with Forbes.
Yeah this is nothing new and yes it is wrong. Some of the D.'s appointees are political concessions to the RNC. That is the ugly side of politics. Money making is another ugly side to politics that we would like to eliminate or at least limit as greed is a basic human nature.
Congress is exempt from inside trading rules and even when they write new laws to check themselves, they usually have an out. Some on the left side of the isle are the biggest money makers of this game.
