tbh I think it's really easy to look successful when your county if rich. There's a much higher tax base so you can more easily pay for things with lower taxes.

When Oakland County is faced with a more comparable situation like Pontiac, despite all of the advantages from the rest of the county Pontiac is still in bad shape.

And during LBP's time Oakland County has declined a lot nationally. While most of that is because of the metro area's decline, his anti-regionalism has contributed to that regional decline.
