Thank you so much, Django. Your post sent me on a search for long lost memories of William S. Burroughs.

The defiance by the elderly should never be ignored. They have much to teach us.
Merry Christmas.

Oneironauts are "dream travellers": folks who say they can become aware of, and control, their dreams. But how do you tell if you're dreaming? Well, there's this one weird trick.

I like that he has a "Dr. Detroit" poster in the background.

Heh. That Jack Lord Cult piece came from Mr. Mike's Mondo Video [[1979), 1 hour and 11 minutes. Low budget, high camp.
<Sigh> They don't make crap like they used to.
I'd put the clip of Soupy with the stripper [[but it gets a "little blue"-that is, not for the shorties).
Instead, here's something for you Gearheads out there--
Always thought that was the Kipper Kids-guess not.
Here's another old chestnut I dusted off.
Y'know when it came to filling out the '84 cast of SNL, Pamela Stephenson
may've been a talented cutie, but I think Martin Short was right for
lobbying to get the very talented Andrea Martin in as a host performer.
When I visited the amazing city of Pittsburgh, it seemed so post-modern [[I expected a giant Slinky to come dropping down the buildings or to have Mummenschanz come up to hit me up for change) to me. I went to three art galleries [[one had a theme on death, one had awesome African American artist's works, and one had a collection exhibit, and the oddest was the Lynchian-pagan video stuff of Bob Labobgah).
Anyway, the stand out was this, as it was making it's tour through the U.S. at the time [[2004):

and here is a sample of how it sounds [[I mostly heard chirps and slow, deep, eerie, bassy backwards shoomping sounds when I was in Pittsburgh in the Ohio River Valley):
Oh, did I mention Ohio? Can't forget this one. Please watch.

Oh, I hope this one loads up, as I'm loading it up on a junky library computer that doesn't operate on the right plug-in:
One has got to love these appearances and wonder just what was Chuck Barris up to behind the scenes at the Gong Show.

Yes, yes, no, yes-blind guessing games with a man who specializes in fracturing reality.
Ha! Seeing Shari Lewis always reminds me of The Song That Doesn't End.
It must have been a poignant event when they sang it the final time — a metaphor for the defiant urge to deny an end to life.
And yet it lives on forever on the internet. Ding!
I know someone probably beat me to this, but this is what came up recently when I was merely trying to track down videos with black kittens in them. It's far more funny if one knows the original [[and just as amazing) "Kittens Inspired by Kittens" video it is riffing off of...

I'm a big fan of drone, ambient music, and the Melvins, so finding a goldmine on youtube of slowed down pieces really appeals to my hyper-turtle sensibilities. This is how Zeppelin should be played. Cue it in the morning as you get ready to go to work and see if it sets the day straight.

An epistemological pretzel:
Cheryl's Birthday problem was a question in a recent Singapore Maths Olympiad. Here is the problem:
You have Albert, Bernard and Cheryl. Cheryl says "my birthday is one of these ten dates"
May 15 May 16 May 19
June 17 June 18
July 14 July 16
August 14 August 15 August 17
She gives Albert the month of her birthday. And Bernard the number.
Then the following conversation occurs:
1) Albert: I don’t know when the birthday is, but I know Bernard doesn’t know too.
2) Bernard: At first I don’t know when the birthday is, but now I know.
3) Albert: Then I know the birthday too.
From that information, work out Cheryl's birthday.
The correct answer is: July 16 [[select that space to expose its content), but why is this the correct answer?
