There aren't many visual clues to go by, but can anyone identify the Detroit adult cinema used as a backdrop to this band's album photo, pictured circa 1984-85? Name/location of building would be appreciated.

The name is slipping my mind. But maybe these clues will rattle someone's recollection:
it is on Woodward, just got renovated, west side of the street, used to be the Graystone ballroom...blue shadow, blue kitty, bluesomethingorother.
The Sassy Cat?? Now the newly renovated Garden Theatre?
Thanks so far... please keep the clues coming! Is it still a strip joint?
Sassy Cat, now the Garden Theatre and, unbelievably now actually looks good inside as a live music venue for bands:
There was another joint closer to the FOX.
Oh how I wish I would have photographed that place back then.
Maybe better luck searching the archives for Sisters of Mercy.

Or how about on the east side of Woodward... the FINE ARTS THEATRE???

Geez, been a long time since I thought about the strip of entertainment in HP. Here's another one.
I heard Dan Gilbert is including two Adult Theatres in his renovation plans.

The VHS, DVD, and the internet have killed classic porn theaters.
Yeah, this one became the AG church "Revival Tabernacle", which I was around when it first opened. It was always funny at the Friday night prayer service to have some fellows stumble into the lobby, usually a bit drunk, stop in their tracks and look around WIDE-EYED at the renovations...realize where they were...and try to exit gracefully.
Talk about your body language yoga...
Yes, Sassy Cat, in the photo you can see the distinctive sassy script on the left side of the frame.
Please forgive me on my previous bad clues, I believe I commingled the sassy cat with the Blue Moon.
I don't think that script says "Sassy"; I think it's the Scorpio Books sign that is right next to the Sassy Cat. Contrast and compare.
Oh, and Django, Sisters of Mercy is the band.
Here's a photo without the header:

Wasn't there another "Sassy Cat" along Woodward just north of the Fox that may have been open as recently as 10-15 years ago?
I remember going to a concert at the Fox a while back and noticing the open theater on the west side of the street just to the north of the freeway. The one floor building now appears to be demolished.
Yes, that much is a fact, and I think the memory of that is bedeviling some of us in our attempts to remember just exactly what was at that Woodward/6 Mile corner 30+ years ago.
You are probably thinking of the infamous Stone Burlesk, which was on Woodward at Henry, just north of the Fisher Fwy. [[I-75) for many years.

Thats the one I was thinking of EastsideAl. Where did you get those pics? Are they yours? I just love that BURLESK sign.
That photo was taken in front of the Sassy Cat, it's pretty plain to see.
There was a "miss detroit" associated with Sisters of Mercy a few years ago. don't know who that was
The American Pickers WANT that sign!
I thought that Open pic of the Stone Burlesk looked familiar! It's a 1998 oil painting by Robert Gniewek that is in the Flint Institute of Art.

Recognize This Band From The Mid-80s?
They were called The Sisters Of Mercy...
I used to see them play live when I lived in London, England, although they based themselves further north of London in the city of Leeds... well worth listening to:
