Although the McGregor Building on Wayne's campus [[designed by Yamasaki, 1957) is one of my favorite contempery buildings in metro Detroit, I knew almost nothing about its namesake before watching this video.
A small addendum to the video: the 1906 Detroit Blue Book lists Mr. & Mrs. Tracy McGregor as living at the Pasadena on East Jefferson.
there is also an immensely good book out on Wayne State Press about Tracy McGregor, by Dr Phil Mason, which offers even deeper insight into philanthropy in Detroit in the 1920s
