A friend on facebook posted this image from the ALCS in 1972. Even then they were crybabies!

I remember watching that game, it was an afternoon game and I remember rushing home to watch it with my Dad. What I remember most was Billy Martin so enraged at Campaneris that if someone had not held him back, he would have torn Campy's head off.
The Tigers were not expected to make the playoffs that year and it was a testament to Martin's managing abilities that they were there. A lot of the late 1960's Tiger stars were on that aging team and they had one last push in them. Sadly, the Oakland A's were in the way and the Tigers were not seen in the playoffs again until 1984, winning it all.
Billy Martin was so pissed. The veins in his neck were bulging out, never seen such rage.
I gotta find a pic
I remember that. Right before I got married, and I was painting the little condo we were moving into, naturally a TV was one of the first things I took over there.
Seems a lifetime ago....like to think they will get by the A's this year though.
I had a nun teacher in my gradeschool class. She was a Tiger fan. Brought a radio into the classroom and she had the game on during class all afternoon.
During the 1972 ALCS Championship one of the pitcher threw a wild pitch to the batter. The Batter was upset that he threw the bat at the pitcher and a quick fight broke out.
I remember the fans in the lower deck bleachers shaking the fence so hard it collapsed in the 9th inning of the last game, won by Oakland 2-1.

Excellent. I nearly forgot about that incident. Thanks for the resourceful members of DYes.
I had forgotten about the incident but I am glad MLB did not! Very nice video RedeemerKid.
