    cla1945, could you clarify your assertions? What salary will the officers be making after the cuts? Also, you refer to new recruits making minimum wage. Certainly you don't mean the Michigan Minimum Wage of $7.40 per hour, do you?

    The new recruit [[just out of the academy in April) will be making approx. $28,000/yr. after the cuts. That's not minimum wage so I misspoke, however, when you consider the type of job this is, it's an insult to every officer working for Detroit. Poverty level for a family of 4 is about $23,000. After almost nine months of rigorous training, studying, physical training, $28,000/yr. is pretty bad.
