You really want to argue that cheap products that have fed the demand of consumerism has been good for America? Our attitude about consumption and desire for cheap products over those made in the US has fed both the culture of debt and destroyed much of our homegrown employment. We might be getting cheap products in the process but it hasn't been good for America's long-term employment prospects.
