The I-73 project is pretty-much dead--Ohio won't upgrade its segment of the proposed route in order to receive the designation. Which is pretty surprising, considering how pro-highway ODOT is.
North Carolina, on the other hand, already has some segments designated as "I-73". South Carolina has proposed building its segment of I-73, with some leaders saying the multi-billion project is "necessary"--as if Ohioans have been unable to find Myrtle Beach without an Interstate Highway leading them directly to the surf. Frankly, I don't see it ever reaching construction phase.
