For now, we can feel fairly confident that the UA building will be renovated, and it looks like the Broderick Tower is on track now, too. If those projects succeed and the Whitney goes ahead, too, that might give impetus to a developer to redevelop the Book Tower/Building, too.
Here is a link to a Critical Detroit article, which mentions tenants being able to move in Summer 2011. It is announcements like that, which either never happen or take years upon years to get started, that make so many skeptical.
