That is a good point and was not my intent. My poorly worded phrase was intended to be directed only towards those that insist all should buy American cars but ignore other American industries and products. It was not intended to be inclusive of everyone that supports American cars.

My apologies to all for my lack of clarity.

Let's see, I just pulled out the window stickers for the cars in my household which are all GM or Ford. The stickers list the American made parts content for each one. The American content is as follows:

    1: 88 percent
    2: 79 percent
    3: 81 percent

Kind of refutes your statement a bit. Just sayin'.

Aside from my Jeep made at the Jefferson Ave plant & my husband's Sebring made at the Van Dyke plant, I always make sure I get rawhides for my dogs that are made in the USA. So many are made in China or South America, it's tough to do. However, the foreign made ones are really bad for dogs digestive systems says my vet. I had a friend whose dog got violently ill from ones made in Bolivia.

The Toyota Tunda is assembled in the USA with 80% Domestic Content.

That's more American than the Big 3, who's garbage is mostly made in Mexico and 3rd world countries.

Want to see what the "big 3" do for Americans?
Just count the empty plants in Michigan.

Well I do go to the dollar stores, but I walk past the cheap Asian imported knick-knacks and buy USA made paper towels, toilet paper and tissues. I always check the labels.

Sometimes when I'm passing thru the canned goods aisle I might stop another shopper buying imported food stuffs [[canned usually... or dried fruits and nuts)... and ask them "inquisitively" if they've ever worry about the safety of their family or had a bad experience when buying Chinese or Vietnamese imported foods. I usually get a 2 second contemplative stare... before the shopper puts the items back on the shelf!

I once bought a tube of USA made Colgate toothpaste. When I got home I re-read the label, and it said that it was approved by the "SADA"... South African Dental Association...... an instance of an item intended for export... but just never made it there....

What is your point? Nobody said that some foreign cars aren't assembled here or that they don't use some American made parts. But not all Big Three cars are assembled in other countries. I gave an example of several Big Three cars that I own which were all assembled in this country with an overwhelming majority of U.S made parts.

And as to the comment about Big Three cars being garbage, my Ford and GM cars have been vastly superior to any imports I have ever had. And this includes so called "high end" cars like Lexus, Jaguar and Mercedes. Each one of those cars gave me more trouble than any American car I've ever owned, and I have owned many cars in my lifetime.

It really hits home when you read a copy of an old magazine from the 50's but of course later than that also. Shoes, shirts, bedlinen, housewares and all kinds of tools made in Canada or the USA. Buying transformed foodstuffs like Mrs Whytes or Bicks' pickles, major canadian brands nowadays doesnt mean the product is canadian even if it says so on the label. The small cukes come all the way from Ch-Ch-Ch-China...

I buy a lot of power tools, and Ridgid tools in particular because of the guarantee. Of course they are all made in China. I have a couple of Bosch tools one of them from Switzerland and a Milwaukee
heavy duty drill made in Germany because Bosch/Skil/Milwaukee are the same company. One of the
better american hand tools are Purdy paint brushes hand made in Oregon. They are a great value, and worth every penny. I bought a Snap-On kit including a maglike flashlight, a led lit keychain and gerberlike multitool made in China at Costco. It came in a snazzy metal box but wasnt worth a shit. The penknife came loose when you opened the pliers, with no way of screwing the thing tight. What pisses me is that Snap-On will sell their name to a chinese company with zero quality control. Ditto for Costco. I think buyers dont even test this crap and make a buck selling these gift sets real cheap. The returns dont even bother them.

I did buy one great american tool at Costco, the Little Giant ladder/stepladder. Expensive but worth it.

Government + Spending Your Money = FAIL
    Duh.

$71,623 to researchers at Wake Forest University to see how monkeys react under the effects of cocaine.
    http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/08/...ding/?hpt=Sbin
Titled "Effect of Cocaine Self-Administration on Metabotropic Glutamate Systems," the project calls for monkeys to self-administer drugs while researchers monitor and study their glutamate levels, the report said.
It cited a March 8 Raleigh News and Observer article that quoted Wake Forest University School of Medicine spokesman Mark Wright as saying the stimulus money would allow the university to continue a job that otherwise might have been cut.
Paula Faria, assistant vice president for media relations at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, said the grant will "have significant impact on public health in regards to cocaine addiction and the issue of relapse."
COCAINE SNORTING MONKEYS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Most people don't even make $71263 a year. How can the Government justify spending this kind of money on stupid things like this? I don't care if your party or your candidate of choice was for or against the Porkulus, YOU NEED TO CALL THEM OUT ON THIS WASTE. It's pathetic.

No wonder Smaller Government and Less Spending is such a strong movement.
No one should be turning a blind eye to this B.S.
