Maybe you've had one in the past or it's lost on the boards but personally I would like to get to know all of you Detroit Yessers just a tad bit better. Just a little information like a/s/l and maybe a favorite Detroit memory.

Thank all of you who replied so far. It's really nice to see your favorite things and memories!
Detroit Dad - I think a social network is really great idea. People can find out they have alot of things in common thru boards like this. I also forgot to mention my love for classic/muscle cars.
ejames - I'm curious as to how you got stranded at Boblo during a class trip? lol Sounds somewhat intentional? hmmm
douglasm - A contraction of my first name and middle initial

Leoqueen---my astrological sign + my status.
55; Detroit artist [painter]; art professor. Lived in Detroit all my life. I havent been posting much on the forum lately, but I check it out fairly regularily.
Proud Cass Tech graduate [1972] who is saddened by the current state of the building
Grew up on the Northwest side; currently live on the near East side, near Lafayette Park. Applauded when the Harbortown Market reopened....made an photo album for my Facebook page.
I joined the Forum back when the Piquette Plaza burned; I was so very impressed with the reporting of the Forum regulars who were so much more thorough than the news media. I was hooked! And began to learn so much about the city.
Detroit memories----1968 Tigers; family drives down Woodward in the evening, thinking that Petula Clark's DOWNTOWN was all about ours; remembering landmarks like the Highland Park Sears, Vernor's neon gnome sign, Scott Fountain changing colors, Algiers Motel near Virginia Park, Stone Burlesk facade, and the Big Stove when it was near Belle Isle. Please dont think I am weird, but these images come back to me, most of them are gone now........
Currently most involved with painting flowers, tornados, and delving into genealogy.
Isn't DetroitYes already Detroit's premiere a social network? And does the internet really need more social networking websites? I am exhausted with them.

Very fractured lower-class upbringing in places such as Livonia, Dearborn and Ann Arbor.
Graduated from WSU.
Have a terrific software career that includes being the developer of code you are probably running at this moment.
Currently in Plymouth, after being away for several years, and after extensive exploration of the country.
I got hooked on this board from the captivating slide show tour. These days, my imagination gets stirred up reading the threads and contemplating how I might join the group of leaders that contributes to a regional recovery.
Not a social networking site, but a social network; meaning a group of us actually regularly meet in the city for some events... in the real world. We had one for awhile, but the only time anyone seems to really get together anymore is at the picnic or special events.
Most of my wife and I's friends and family moved out of Michigan now, except for a very few, and most aren't in the city. We're finding it hard to meet people in the city, especially since neither one of us are really naturally extroverts, believe it or not.

I don't have any favorite memories of Detroit because my parents, grandparents, friends and family were scared to death of it.
But I love the urban density, sense of community, and the rich culture of city life.
My big hobby is taking a piece of pipe, running it up and down the strings of a guitar and writing blues songs about current events.
By trade, I am a Dashing IT Professional like ejames01. ;-)
