Corktown has experienced a lot more break-ins and smash-and-grab recently, but we attributed it to a bad economy and greater exposure to through traffic [[ bcuz it picked up after I-75 was shut down and traffic was detoured through Rosa Parks and Trumbull). Our community, literally, borders 2 of the 3 casinos, and I'm not sure if the amount of security the casinos employ is equal to the amount of crime that the casinos might be bringing. Someone needs to do an impact study for us to find out and Corktown would be perfect for that sort of thing, since we tend to keep crime low around here in the first place. I know we aren't really considered "downtown," but we are about as downtown as a fully functioning neighborhood can get.
