I think Detroit is the only U.S. city of its size that has moved train operations from away from their "large, imposing, and architecturally significant stations".In many cities in the US, AMTRAK has moved out of the large, imposing, and architecturally significant stations [[which are uneconomical to heat, cool, secure, and operate) and into nondescript cinder block buildings which contain the passenger train essentials [[ticket office, waiting room, and a small baggage room).
