About what?
About the Greektown Casino Hotel under construction?
In a Google 3D rendering?
Casinos, even when finished, are not "beautiful," except maybe for those in Monte Carlo...
Oh I see....sarcasm
I propose anyone who complains about the appearance of this building in Google Earth go take some reference shots, download sketchup and import the pictures, model and re-texture this, resubmit and then check back in this thread.
But wouldn't it just be easier to complain to nobody in particular and have nothing ultimately done?
I am glad that it is built in scale with the surrounding area. Tasteful.
Everybody should download Google Sketch-Up. It's awesome, and it's free.
Did gopher go back into his hole?
How timely and poignant a question/comment, gopher. I mean, Greektown only opened, oh, months and months ago after having been under construction for years.
Don't you just love pointless hit-and-run posting? Goper has a full, what? 8 postings? I can't wait to see what he or she has to share with us in the future. And, by can't wait I mean I'd much rather he or she share all that they can in one posting and then just disappear.
That's new, shiny, and glitzy, Ray... but I wouldn't say it's elegant in the Old World way that European casinos are.
That one will last in Vegas, what, 15 years? Before they tear it down and blow it up?

It depends on your definition of beauty. I see beauty in the structure of Aria, the sweeping curves and glass, but also in the Monte Carlo palace type.
As they say, it's in the eye of..
Well that sounds like something perfect for Detroit, build it then tear it down.
Hmmm, the Monto Carlo Casino is beautiful because it's in the Beauix-Arts style. Greektown Casino is not beautiful. The Wayne County Building is beautiful because it's in the Beaux-Arts Style. The Wayne County Building will be empty at the end of the month. Is this thread leading to the conclusion of turning the Wayne County Building into casino so it doesn't end up looking like the MCS? Oh, but a casino is just sooo unpopular with local voters who'd rather see it end up looking like the MCS rather than giving it to the only tenant that could afford its upkeep.
Did you just make up your own issue and then get huffy about it?Hmmm, the Monto Carlo Casino is beautiful because it's in the Beauix-Arts style. Greektown Casino is not beautiful. I don't think the gamblers dress like that at Greektown...
I like the [[mausoleum) casino on the left. Another outstanding example of architecture in the Joe Louis mode.
My brother worked on the City Center! His company did such a great job on the MGM Grand Detroit, and there's no construction work in MI right now, so they contracted to work in Vegas for 8 months [[MGM threw them a bone). He just got back to Michigan.
