Grand Prix in the Parks


The Downtown Detroit Partnership is supporting the following free events supplementing the action around this weekend's racing events:

Downtown Street Eats will offer expanded hours for food trucks during Grand Prix weekend: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Cadillac Square, 662 Woodward Ave. in Detroit.

Grand Prix viewing at Campus Martius Park – All three days of the Grand Prix, racing enthusiasts and families can watch select races on the big screen at Campus Martius Park. 800 Woodward Ave. in Detroit.

Ford at Capitol Park – Ford vehicle displays, tailgating, live music and giveaways will take place 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Sunday.

Small Business Straightaway – Browse a wide range of products and services from more than 30 local artisans and vendors at Cadillac Square from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Palmer Park Art Fair

More than 100 juried artists will display their works at this fair that will also include music, dance performances, an author’s tent that will include children’s storytelling sessions, food trucks, a beer tent, art projects from the Cranbrook Art Museum, and a visit to the parks original log cabin that will be open for viewing.

10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Park, 910 Merrill Plaisance in Detroit. Free admission.

VegFest – Eastern Market

Nearly 100 vendors are expected at Eastern Market's Vegfest, which offers plant-based food, sustainable shopping, live cooking demos, free samples, a kid zone and more.

A Vegfest afterparty is scheduled for 2-6 p.m. at Eastern Market Brewing Co., 2515 Riopelle in Detroit

The VegFest runs 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday in sheds 5 and 6 at the Eastern Market in Detroit. Free admission.

2-day Block Party in Corktown

Ten locally owned businesses, food trucks and more will pop up on the sidewalk along the 1600 block of Michigan Avenue in Detroit at this event hosted by All Things Marketplace.

There will be custom jewelry, Reiki energy-enhanced candles, T-shirts and more. The art show "Welcome to Detroit" will be on display at All Things Marketplace.

The block party runs 12-6 p.m. Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sunday at 1620 Michigan Ave. in Detroit. Free.

Art on the Grand

This fair features an array of art in a variety of price ranges and disciplines including ceramics, jewelry, painting, photography, wood, wearable art, glass, leather and sculptures.

10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday along Grand River Avenue in downtown Farmington, between Farmington Road and Grove Street. Free.
