This morning's New York Times has a 32 page section devoted to the accomplishments of Frederick Law Olmstead, the nation's most talented landscape architect. They include six pictures of Olmstead's greatest achievement: Belle Isle. Alas, they focus upon that attractive by little [[compared to Belle Isle) park he designed in Manhatten. [[Belle Isle is in international waters and is about 20% larger than that smaller but well known park in Manhatten

His work is impressive and extensive. They don't mention the role he played promoting abolition.
