PeterDuchin's upbeat music, including show tunes by several composers and lyricistspresent—Alan Jay Lerner, Comden and Green, Harold Arlen—swept people out oftheir seats and onto the dance floor. Duchin's band traded off with another,funkier group, the all-black Soul Brothers of Detroit.
