The swimming trials for the 1956 Olympics were held at the Brannon Pools in River Rouge Park. When Detroit planned to host the 1968 Olympics, did the organizers intend to use the Brannon Pools for the swimming competition or did they foresee constructing a new set of pools in the city?

When Detroit ran out of funds for capital improvements, they closed the Brannon pools in about 2000. In 2014, the Lear Corporation and the State of Michigan paid to renovate the pools. I believe they were originally designed by Albert Kahn in the 1920s. Can anyone confirm that? Would these be the only outdoor pools designed by Kahn?

Thank you.
