The car that Clara Ford drove, in name at least, will be revived under the same name, Detroit Electric Car Company, and built somewhere in Wayne County starting later this year, according to Crains.
Nearly five years after the name was revived, the Detroit Electric Car Co. announced Tuesday its plans to manufacture an electric sports car in metro Detroit.

The currently Netherlands-based carmaker, re-formed by former Lotus Engineering Group CEO Albert Lam in 2008, plans to fill 180 jobs locally by the end of the year, the company said in a press release.

Detroit Electric recently signed a long-term lease for office space on the 18th floor of the Fisher Building in the New Center area for its corporate headquarters. It also has identified a yet-to-be-disclosed manufacturing site in Wayne County.
