You are cordially invited to attend the 2012 Preservation Wayne Membership Event on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Metropolitan Center for High Technology.

The building is the former S. S. Kresge World Headquarters and is located in the Cass Park Historic District. The address is: 2727 Second Street, Detroit, Michigan 48201.

While this is billed as a membership event, don’t let the title fool you – all are welcome to attend this event!

There will be a silent auction which will include some very special items!

Light hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks will be served, and a cash bar available.

Parking is free in the Metropolitan Center Parking Garage.

Cost to attend the event is $35 per person or $60 for two people.

Here is a little information about the Metropolitan Center [[S. S. Kresge World Headquarters):
  • Designed by Albert Kahn in 1927, the Art Deco building covers 250,000 square feet of a city block.
  • The building contains the architectural scuptures of Corrado Parducci, one of Detroit’s most prolific architectural sculptors.
  • Until 1972, the building held offices for 1,200 employees of the Kresge Corporation.
  • Geometric patterns are part of the interior elements such as the polished granite entrance and walnut paneling.
  • In 1979, the building was listed on the State and National Historic Registers.
