I think what it is that they had three guys in the booth. They HAD to talk for whatever reason. It's almost like they couldn't just let the action on the field dictate the course. I don't know if they've worked together in some form before but that's why I like two guys calling the game; one for the play-by-play and the other for color commentating. Or do like the days of Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey- alternate innings.

We get swamped with enough stats and minutia already watching baseball on TV. The last thing we need are the guys in the booth making more clutter. The game is simple to watch in person; it shouldn't be that difficult to call.
