    BrushStart, please don't get discouraged. The economy is still in the toilet for those who are undereducated and/or unskilled. That exacerbates all the factors for crime. I'm not sure that the spike in gas prices is helping, either.

    I know. I'm actually cautiously optimistic. The homicide rate has been coming down year after year for a while now. The fact that Godbee was so candid about it says a lot. Just seems like an endless battle against senseless violence. Can't stop believing. The night is always darkest before the dawn, or so I hear...

    Candid isn't the word that I would use. The press release on this simply proclaimed "Crime rate down" and buried the news about an increase in murders and non-fatal shootings.

    In my opinion, this seems less like being candid and more like trying to put a spin on it.
