If I were you, I would have opened up the link you omitted from my post #46. Or are you saying that "The Hill" is a right wing blog?

"Mission accomplished" should involve removing all troops which neither president accomplished. Don't forget that Saddam was captured alive under Bush. We have photos of Saddam's trial to prove it. At least, like you say, President Obama didn't venture into the theater of the absurd by putting on a military flight suit and stand in front of a sign. Speaking in front of the World Towers is more appropriate.

This admin. attempted to deal with the runaway health insurance industry that was demanding ever higher premiums and denying people covereage. They also passed a law declared "the most historic shakeup of the regulation of U.S. banks since the Great Depression" by the WSJ.

We still have troops in Japan and Korea and you expect this admin. to get all troops out of the middle east and Asia? No one wants to be the person who "weakened" the U.S.'s defenses.onw thing the average American is good at is scapegoating.

Rand Paul or Pat Buchanan might answer in the affirmative.

#1. Failed. #2. Demican party/WSJ propaganda. Remember - WSJ is Murdoch's tool. WSJ may still do some good reporting on occasion but as far as editorially, WSJ sucks big time. I've said this for years, "the WSJ would make a good case for soylent green [[killing humans and making food products from their remains) if a corporation stepped up and proposed it". They have no conscience.

No one single source. You have to read all over the dial, including the WSJ, NYT, and various other publications, zines, blogs, chat rooms, etc, left and right, to ferret out the truth. It takes some common sense, some smell tests, and debate and discussion with people you trust to come up with a reasonable facsimile of facts and truth. And often the facts and truth change. They are moving targets. I don't claim to be correct all the time, maybe not most of the time. But I try to be well read and informed without listening/watching the mainstream press regularly. That includes NPR. I learn a lot here at DY, including from you. We are now in a ?news? mode that I call the AOBLATT - All Osama Bin Laden All The Time. I can't wait for Brittney to get caught without panties again or Michael Jackson's face to appear on a pancake so we'll hear about something other than AOBLATT. Maybe whatshisname will do another tour and a show at the Fox.

Is spiking the football appropriate upon "removing all troops"?

I don't believe so. As an acquaintance put it so well; "I'm not saying he didn't deserve what happened to him, I just don't think it's cause for celelbration". He added, "It's as if it's become some sinister team sport". I think we need to get out quickly, smoothly and silently.

The reason gas prices are going down? NO!bama sent the Navy Seals out to find the same Enron Casino Gamblers [[traders) that had bid gas prices up before Enron came apart at the seams. Remember the rolling blackouts on the west coast caused by Enron traders? Citi Bank bought the trader business from Enron and let them loose to reek havoc on the world economy, while making billions for Citi Bank and its rich investors. That stupid old firewall - missing again.

From Reuters:U.S. sues big oil traders for 2008 manipulation
Regulators launched one of the biggest ever crackdowns on oil price manipulation on Tuesday, suing two well-known traders and two trading firms owned by Norwegian billionaire John Fredriksen for allegedly making $50 million by squeezing markets in 2008.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission [[CFTC) said traders James Dyer of Oklahoma's Parnon Energy, and Nick Wildgoose of Europe-based Arcadia Energy, amassed large physical positions at a key U.S. trading hub to create the impression of tight supplies that would boost oil prices.

Later they dumped those barrels back onto the market, causing prices to crash and racking up profits from short positions they had accrued in futures markets, the suit said.

"Defendants conducted a manipulative cycle, driving the price of WTI [[crude) to artificial highs and then back down, to make unlawful profits," the lawsuit filed in New York said.

"This is a very big deal in that we seldom allege that the defendants manipulated the crude oil market to the tune of 50 million dollars in ill-gotten gains," CFTC commissioner Bart Chilton told Reuters.
[[Although this is a recent story, it deals with events of 2008 and earlier. The recent Midwest price spikes have been attributed to refinery problems in Joliet, IL.)

Note that absolutely nothing of positive value was produced to "earn" that $50 million. It raises the question of how often these schemes happen but never see the light of day.

"In the past, the CFTC has had a hard time winning manipulation cases, although U.S. financial reforms last year gave it broader powers to get tough." It's as if the crooks use lobbyists as keys to open a loophole in a vault then snag the cash and escape. Then the legislature plugs that loophole to avert public outrage while the crooks are already opening the next vault elsewhere.

Nice work if you can get it.

The next time you see a gas tanker truck broken down, crashed or waylaid in some mannner, expect gas prices to escalate. Of course, it won't happen without the help of the press touting the calamity 24/7. "NEWS FLASH: a tanker truck experienced two flat tires today on I-75 north bound, causing a huge spike in gas prices in the metro-Detroit area just in time for Memorial Day weekend travel north to your foreclosed cottage".
