And sat there for several weeks:

DETROIT – An explosive device found at a federal building in Detroit sat on the premises for several weeks before it was defused by authorities, myFOXdetroit.com reported Tuesday.

An employee with the Federal Protective Service -- the security agency that guards federal property across the country -- discovered the device on February 26.

Rather than calling police, the employee stored the explosive in a locked room for three weeks. Sources told myFOXdetroit.com that the employee's supervisors were aware of the situation and did nothing.

The city's bomb squad was called to the McNamara Federal Building in downtown Detroit on March 19 to investigate a suspicious package that contained explosives, leading officials to believe the device was found that day.
A request for comment from the Federal Protective Service resulted in a statement that did not mention the three-week delay.
