Default The War Over the Courts

    Attachment 1642

    The War Over the Courts
During the Bush years, we saw more right wing ideologues appointed as federal judges than at any other point in American history. The courts became so packed with industry hacks that it was almost impossible for anyone who isn't the CEO of a major corporation to really get a fair hearing. But now the tables have turned, and President Obama is in a position to make dozens of court appointments, including at least one Supreme Court appointment this year. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about why Obama shouldn't try to reach out to the Republicans with his nominations with Simon Lazarus, a contributor to The American Prospect, and public-policy counsel to the National Senior Citizens Law Center.

Yep...Obama is poised to screw up that branch of government as well. Imagine, appoint judges who disregard the rule of law for political/statist purposes....sorry, to use the vernacular, judges who are "empathetic".

Yet you don't dispute the fact that Tush appointed only political hacks to supposedly non-partisan judgeships.

    He did.

And he hired 20somethings like Monica Goodling to bring the ax down on judges who didn't pass the litmus test of being a good repugnican, and who were willing to take "loyalty oaths" to president Tush personally.

That's the kind of thing Hitler and Mussolini did.

Monica Goodling was a recent graduate of Pat Robertson's Regent University, which is a cheap & lousy so called 'law' school of sycophantic, psychopathic jesus freaks hired by our president, George Taliban Tush.

She was unaware that taking a loyalty oath to the president wasn't normal. Patrick Leahy when questioning her before a senate subcommittee meeting was astounded when he heard it.

As a 'lawyer' she was unaware that she took an oath to uphold the Constitution first.

That's why we needed to purge the fascist right from our government.

Corporatist meaning? If you mean national/socialist corporatism as in Nazi Germany...I agree, of course it is bad because of the control and preeminence of the State [[and therefore statist corporatism).

Free market capitalist corporatism is the ideal to which we should all strive to achieve.

    Life, Incorporated
Whether we like it or not, Americans are almost completely dependent on corporations to make their daily lives run. From the places we buy groceries, to the cars we drive, to the little niceties that make life more pleasant - Giant corporations have their hand in almost every aspect of our daily routines. But things don't have to be this way. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about how things got so bad, and what we can do to take our lives back with Douglas Rushkoff, author of the new book "Life, Incorporated: How the World Became a Corporation, and How to Take it Back."

Amazing Tales of Wall Street Scandals
Since the very day that it was formed the American financial system of banks, brokers, and Wall Street traders has been plagued with scandals. But from every scandal that broke, we got a new set of laws and regulations that were supposed to fix these problems. Well, given the number of scandals that have emerged over the last few years, I'd say its time for a complete overhaul of this system. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about the history of America's financial scandals, and what we can do to help put an end to the white collar theft that's been taking place on Wall Street for the last 8 years with Steve Koepp, editor of Fortune Magazine.

    Total duration 16 minutes:

Senator Bernie Sanders on Healthcare Reform
Healthcare reform was a large part of President Obama's platform last year during his campaign and it's something that progressives have been working on for the past two decades. But during that time, the GOP has made sure that they throw up every possible road block to prevent Democrats from being able to enact meaningful reform. But now that the power in Washington has shifted, the effort to revamp our healthcare system has been put back on the agenda. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about the latest developments in this fight for a better system with Senator Bernie Sanders.

Default Newt Gingrich Angers The Zombie Reagan

Newt Gingrich Angers The Zombie Reagan
    Cross-posted at the Huffington Post.

All is not well in Republican-land. And all is not well with our nation's second leading Republican. And who is our nation's second leading Republican? Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell? House Minority leader John Boehner? No, according to an USA Today/ Gallup poll, the person who Republicans see as being the GOP's second leading spokesperson is none other than former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. Newt lost by mere percentage points to radio host Rush Limbaugh. Each had a whopping 10%.

However, Newt's number two spot may be in jeopardy to a surging Dick Cheney because Newt has done the unthinkable. He has attacked one of the Republican sacred cows. No, not the rich. But almost as bad. Newt attacked former president Ronald Reagan. As you may have heard, at a June 8th speech to the Republican Senate and House campaign committees, Newt declared:
Let me be clear. I am not a citizen of the world. I think the entire concept is intellectual nonsense and stunningly dangerous.
Now, one would think that he was rightly attacking President Obama, who shamelessly declared himself a "citizen of the world". I mean, what kind of latte sipping elitist thinks that America is part of the world, right?

Well, it turns out that addressing the United Nations in 1982, President Reagan stated:
I speak today as both a citizen of the United States and of the world. ... My people have sent me here today to speak for them as citizens of the world, which they truly are, for we Americans are drawn from every nationality represented in this chamber today.
Now if there's one rule of the Republican Fight Club, other than You Don't Talk About Republican Fight Club it's... You Don't Attack The Reagan. Because not only is the Reagan your party's God, attacking the Reagan stirs up dark spirits buried deep within the depths of hell.

Don't believe me? Well, just look at this exclusive footage of what happened when Newt Gingrich dared attack the Reagan.

The horror, right? And Newt didn't even mean to attack the Reagan. He was just throwing some red meat to the moron Republican base. The goobers who love Freedom Fries and are too dense to realize that not seeing ourselves as part of the world is one of the primary causes of the peril our country faces today.

But, in angering the Republican demons, Newt may have found the GOP's salvation. Why look for the next Reagan, when you can just use the old Reagan?

I'm pretty sure there's nothing in the Constitution barring a zombie from being President, right?

Default Carrie Prejean Speaks With Rupert Murdoch About Joining Fox News

Carrie Prejean Speaks With Rupert Murdoch About Joining Fox News
After Carrie Prejean's much publicized firing as Miss California, one of the main questions that everyone is asking is "What will Carrie do now"? Or more accurately, "How long is it going to be before Carrie signs a contract with the Fox News Channel?"

Well folks, it may be sooner than you think, because we have obtained exclusive footage of Carrie talking about that very subject with News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch. Take a look.

Alright, so Carrie hasn't actually met with Rupert Murdoch. At least as far as I know. But, I wouldn't be surprised if meeting was on the books because the Fox Army, including Sean Hannity and Gretta Van Susteren, have begun vigorously defending her.

And for Fox, hiring her would certainly seem like a no brainer. Except for two issues. One, would they be able to keep Brian Kilmeade from drooling on her on a daily basis? And two, judging by these emails, is she too much of a diva for even Fox News' standards?

Seems fitting, hiring another no-brainer at Fox Noise.

Funny how dumb blondes tend to gravitate to this station.

Her whole premise was she felt her "freedom of speech" was compromised in her answer to the question. Freedom of speech had nothing to do with it. The government wasn't running the pageant, Donald Trump was.

So-called free enterprise has no problem curtailing freedom of speech as it relates to the job, which is all good and well, but don't blame the government for the rules private enterprise employs.

Default The Greatest Swindle Ever Sold

Since the day that the first round of stimulus funds were proposed last fall, CEOs from some of the largest companies in America have been lining up in Washington with their hands out, in true Oliver Twist fashion saying "Please sir, I want some more." And the worst part about this is that Congress was more than happy to oblige, and has passed all sorts of bailouts and stimulus packages that give trillions of dollars to corporations with no accountability, no oversight, and almost no guidelines. Mike Papantonio of Air America's Ring of Fire talks about the missteps that led us here, and what we can do to prevent even more abuse from corporate America, with investigative journalist Andy Kroll.
