Can the Reagan Revolution be stopped before the American Middle Class joins the Dinosaurs?
The Reagan Revolution continues. Donald Trump just issued his budget, and it contains over $1 trillion in cuts for healthcare, massive cuts to Medicaid and food stamps, sets up even larger cuts to Social Security and Medicare and kneecaps the Environmental Protection Agency, among others.
Paul Ryan may no longer be in politics, and Ronald Reagan may be gone, but the politics of greed and the top one percent continue to totally rule the Republican Party, and have an outsized influence in the Democratic Party.
Until the Democratic Party returns to its New Deal and Great Society roots, there will be no serious challenge to the Reagan revolution. And without that there will be no revival of the American Middle Class.

Donald Trump isn't just taking us toward the end of democracy, he has brought us there! Donald Trump has officially ended one of the most important parts of the American experiment by demanding that an independent Department of Justice go easy on one of his buddies.
In 1780, John Adams and Samuel Adams helped draft the constitution for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts which says, “In the government of this commonwealth… the executive shall never exercise the legislative or judicial powers… to the end that it may be a government of laws and not of men.“ By taking on the judicial powers of convicting and sentencing, Trump has turned our “system of laws, not men“ on its head. This is the sort of thing you see in Erdogan’s Turkey, but never in an advanced democracy. Bill Barr and Donald Trump have committed a complete repudiation of one of the most important of the values and structures that made this country a democratic republic.
Four brave federal prosecutors have stood up to this and resigned, but if there is not an overwhelming and systematic response to Trump’s subversion of the American justice system, our republic is at an end. November may be too late.

Another Crash Is Coming Unless We Act Now [[w/ Richard Wolff)
Professor Richard Wolff has some good news and some not so good news about the economy. The good news is that the next economic crash doesn't have to happen, the bad news is that stopping it won't be as simple as some would like it to be.
Are the banks going to crash again?
The signs are everywhere.
Auto Loans are slowing down and so are the asset backed securities based on those car loans.
Similar securities trading is happening with credit cards and meanwhile Donald Trump just pushed a big hole through Dodd Frank, a consumer protection bill that heretofore had helped protect citizens from dangerous bank trading.
All of this is reminiscent of the 2008 housing crash that took out Wall Street after assets become toxic and now we have to ask if this will all happen again?
Richard Wolff brings some good news saying that the crash doesn't need to happen but it will unless we take bold action right now and fundamentally change the way our economy works.

Why The End Of The World Won't Be Breaking News
The fossil fuel industry has literally created an atmosphere to which the human species is not adapted, and which our civilization may not survive. As teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg said, "The saddest thing is that this won't be breaking news."
As the world burns, and more and more fossil fuels are being used every day planet-wide, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels passed 416 ppm this week at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. In the 300,000 years since the emergence of modern humans, carbon dioxide levels have never been this high. As well, Donald Trump and the entire Republican Party continue to deny that this is even an issue, so their billionaire fossil fuel donors can continue to rake in the cash. If this doesn’t qualify as a crime against humanity, nothing does.
