Umm, not according to Pelosi.... Hah! Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said Gingrich will never be president, as she "knows" something. Newt was like bring it on. She backed down...

From article: Regarding Gingrich being president: "That will never happen," Pelosi said.

When [CNN John King] King asked, "Why are you so sure?" Pelosi responded: "There's something I know. The Republicans, if they choose to nominate him, that's the prerogative. I don't even think that's going to happen."

Pelosi hints, then denies she has Gingrich secrets

Yet recall it was Pelosi who also said: ..."We have to pass the health care bill so that you can find out what is in it." ====

I have been a political news junkie for decades, and seen some good and some not so good candidates for president. Some are just plain disingenuous. Two examples: Dam Quayle [[R), John Edwards [[D). Never have I seen a more condescending and plastic candidate than Mitt Romney. President Eisenhower would roll over in his grave if he saw this guy in action. .

I think that sometimes especially in Michigan we look at Mitt and see his father but ultimately Mitt is not his father, some of it is due to the times but I would think that George would be unhappy with his son's political flip-flopping. In reading George's background the thing that stood out with him was that he stood for something

    This is funny.

In effect, the weak company says please "eat me". Romney says corporations are people, but when Bain eats, it does not eat people. Bain eats the money, perfectly depicted in the photograph of Romney and his partners.

Mitt stands for making lots of money for himself. That's why the American people should question why he would want to be president. It certainly doesn't have any thing to do with improving the lot of the average citizen. From what I've heard, whenever he talks about what he would do as president , his remarks are pretty vacuous. He does better putting down his opponents.

If Romney had his way, Michigan unemployment would be near 40%

Romney's response to being asked what he would do about the housing crisis. He would let things bottom out first.

I guess my first thoughts are does he know at what point will things bottom out and more importantly what will the economy look like once the complete bottom out of the housing market happens.

His answers concerning the auto industry were similar.

Are you Repubs sure you want this guy ?

For the housing crisis we must simply have unwavering faith in the mysteries of the flawless invisible hand. Steadfastly trusting in the throne of the free market to lead the way to the promised land of a perfectly bottomed out solution. Any who suffer along the way to salvation must realize that this process is a necessary cleansing of evil and is good for them. Thus saith the almighty free market principles.

-created by Steve Barry, and is originally published at TBP.

It looks like the market is just returning us to normal price range from the federal government and federal reserve created irrational exuberance. Young people will be able to afford houses again.

Alternatively, the federal government could prop up the bubble again and then create new programs to help those who were priced out of the market by propping up the bubble.

President Obama is not talking about young people priced out of the market but homeowners already under water and can't get refinancing. These houses will be foreclosed on so something needs to be done.

Barry Ritholtz who's blog you linked believes in letting the housing market bottom out, however he admits that it hasn't hit bottom and doesn't know when that will happen.

As a person running for president that would be an completely unacceptable answer during the campaign trail. However to this date Romney has offered nothing better.

By letting things bottom out, the rich, will be the only ones, that will have the cash to buy property at fire sale prices. Doesn't anyone else see this?

But what could be wrong about passively allowing the rich to engorge with sweets? During this process our society should be ever so grateful that the most resourceful are willing to save the housing industry with their purchases.

Heard on some comedy show: Mitt Romney is not a vulture capitalist. Vultures only eat dead things.

[So I guess Romney is a vampire capitalist as exemplified in the way his colleagues and he sucked the life out of Dade. Just imagine what would have happened if he had gotten hold of Chrysler. Not that Daimler was much better.

That's fine lit joe except the 1% are always re-negotiating contracts, breaking contracts or otherwise changing the rules of the game to fit there needs, then they want to lecture to the 99% that a contract is a contract and folks like you buy into that line of reasoning.
