The two-hour "American Routes" show is all about our favorite city and its music tonight on WUOM-FM [[97.1), which you can receive generally west of Woodward. Host Nick Spitzer just now segued from John Lee Hooker's "Boogie Chillin'" to the MC 5 doing Hooker's "The Motor City is Burning." Next up: The Rev. C.L. Franklin, and his daughter. Spitzer has been all over town, playing lots of music -- soul, rockabilly, Motown, rock, country, polka and jazz, and interviewing people ranging from Smokey Robinson and Yusef Lateef to some guy in Romulus who combines coon hunting and country tunes. This is an absolutely fantastic show, and the website says it will be available all week at:
