Detroit did great gambrels and dutch colonial meets shingle style. Wondered if some of the other gambrel roofed houses also by Mason? Seems like he might have had a phase - some of these are pattern book or just generally not like his work but have to wonder when you see the hotel.

The homes were designed for members of the Weber family,
Just to clarify....do you mean the Webber family associated with J.L. Hudson?

Yes those Webers. Heavy fingers added an extra b.

Primarily known for his excellent designs Leonard Willieke was not above using a stock design to build spec homes all over the area.

Another house in the Boston-Edison neighborhood designed by Leonard Willeke, 2254 Longfellow, is currently for sale.

The definitive book on Willeke's work, Leonard B. Willeke, Excellence in Architecture and Design [[Uof D Press, 1986) was written by Detroit historian, Dr. Thomas Brunk.

No heavy fingers...Oscar Webber and family spelled the name with two Bs. That's why I asked.

I don't really want to live at 8 and Van Dyke, but if I did, I would buy this house.

This picture was posted on DYes years ago I think by AIW. I recall that he mentioned that the photo's description said JB Ford House and it was along the Detroit River. However, this is not the same Ford house that was relocated over to Windmill Pointe. To be honest, I am not sure about the identity of this home.

It would be great if we could post a map of the properties along the "Gold Coast" at that time. Seems like there were a number of grand estates along the Detroit River.

A pic of the Ford house when it was located at 8192 E. Jefferson. Take a look in the right hand corner I have a feeling that might be your home.

About where was the location of the original JB Ford mansion on Jefferson? Was it adjacent to the Edsel Ford home?

More on the east Jefferson houses! Were there others other than the Ford house that were relocated to Windmill Pointe? Yes I agree that this could be its own set of posts.

I only know of two Indian Village homes that were moved to Grosse Pointe. I found another pic with a couple E. Jefferson homes. Although after the Ford house had been moved.

Is it true that this house was deconstructed and reconstructed in a mirror image of how it was originally built? I recall hearing that years ago.

I know Graves designed at least 7 homes in GP, but I have to find the list. being that I am no longer in the Detroit area makes it difficult to do research. I just watch from afar and hope that i can snatch up one of these IV gems one day.
