I wonder what is going through Ficano's mind right about now?

Rick Snyder is single-handedly saving Michigan. He antagonizes the right and the left because he is a true moderate who makes unpopular decisions that are required to move the state forward.

I like Ficano and I like Mullin. I think they have done some good and have good ideas. She lives nearby me and seems like a nice lady on a personal level. Unfortunately, they are both going to to be criminally charged [[I predict) which is very sad.

Another $270,000 will be paid by HYPE to Anthony Parlovecchio, a former Mullin deputy, to monitor construction

    From The Detroit News: http://detnews.com/article/20111027/...#ixzz1c0JnrHbw
Must be some darn good monitoring.

The Turkia Mullin scandal isn’t simply about Turkia Mullin. She’s the tip of the iceberg. Just beneath the surface of this mess is the collusion between Wayne County public officials and the contractors with whom they do business.

Kick over almost any county contract, public appointment, or shadowy consulting firm and you’ll discover an interconnected web of Wayne County officials and power brokers that has remained largely out of the public eye for a generation.

What an assclown. "I'm sorry, I fixed everything, you all can leave me alone now - nothing to see here!" ROFL! I do like Jeffrey Collins though.

His new appointees were looking at him like he was crazy. He just rambled on and on which made him looked guilty and scared.

    More to come.

I walked down to the Guardian building today and noticed a FOX2 truck with Amy Lange and a camera man getting some b-roll while she chilled in the truck.

They seem to be peeling a layer of the onion off each day that goes by.

I know...it feels too much like the Kwhyme affair.

Stonewalling by a politician most feel is corrupt, but he's kept his veneer intact and shiny. An ever-increasing group of folk who've partaken in various forms of institutional corruption...including a pay-for-play scheme and kickbacks funneled through non-profits. A few tossed under the bus to throw investigators off the track. At least one pretty woman who wonders why everyone doesn't know who the fuck she is. At least two churches brought into the scandal.

We'll see if our journalist investigators are up to this task. They seem to be doing pretty well up to this point. Another potential Pulitzer is the dangling carrot...who knows, if they do it well...there might even be a Nobel in it, LOL!

    Cheers!

You must be a provocateur. Did anyone feel sorry for the Kilpatricks?

What's good for the goose better be good for the gander. I don't post much on the corruption threads, but everyone who treats public resources as their personal piggy bank needs to go.

    LOL, no kidding.

I just love how at every press conference Ficano says, "I take full responsibility, that's why I'm firing someone else."

    Ficano, Mullin, Axt...

What? No love for Art Blackwell? He doesn't make the roll call on this thread? Where's the fairness?

Blackwell, a partner in Greektown Casino and former Chair of Wayne County Board of Commissioners, said his local government experience qualifies him to run the city [Highland Park ]. But that does not satisfy his critics who point to his connection to the [[former Wayne County Executive Edward) McNamara machine as the reason he got the job.

“I chaired the Wayne County Board of Commissioners and the Detroit Wayne County Port Authority,” Blackwell said. “We built an airport when everybody said we could not build a billion-dollar terminal.”

    Bankole Thompson Michigan Citizen
I can see him out there now, pouring concrete for the runways...

I don't remember any churches being involved.
    Which ones were involved?

Well...one of the fired individuals was having HIS kickback scheme pay for repairs at his church. I mean that in terms of ownership, not attendance. Then, the Catholic Church was implicated peripherally in Turkia Mullins real estate dealings with the house she had that ended up in the old Cardinal's hands.

That second one is disputed by all the Catholics as mere co-incidence, hence the disclaimers. Anything I say on the matter is biased, according to some. I am clear on being an ex-Catholic here.

    Sincerely,
    John

Wait - Michael Grundy, Ficano's top aide that was fired for the healthcare kickback scheme - that's who Mildred used to have on as her guest host? I never made the connection until I read it in the news this morning, I do know who he is now. He was a very frequent fill in for her whenever she had to be out.

Wow, Mildred should just stop making friends. Seems all of her connections end up indicted and/or imprisoned. Kind of ironic, considering the theme of her show.
