Old Main at Wayne State. Pig ugly.

Who here also wants Detroit to be a general law township?
Kresge Graduate Library at WSU? It was state of the art when built and is now pretty dated and worn. Of course, the newer undergraduate library was built with subpar materials and design as well.
Mine would be outside the city limits, but I would choose the residence of Mike Illitch. I would then cover the property with gravel and charge to park there.
You can just move his residence to Abandoned North Gibraltar Road. That way, when he comes home he can't even get to his own street!
My vote would be all Detroit buildings.
The 3 story building with tinted windows facing Woodward adjacent to the Guardian Building.
So very pointless.
For sure that dump of a building by the Statler site. For some reason I don't believe the owner was willing to "donate it carte blanche."
Not a building per say, but Penske Field on Belle Isle. Turn it back into a park for the citizens like it should be, not a suburban millionaire parking lot for race cars that he stopped running. I hate him for what he did to that space.
Greektown Casino walkway over Monroe Street. Why? I hate it.
I am only joking about the Detroit buildings. I would go for the Summit Place Mall. Why? Sears is the only tenant there.
i have 2.
somerset mall & great lakes crossing
How about this guys......MOST OF Hamilton Street in H.P., they could start over with a clean slate
Although it does look awful, especially from the air... the land they paved over had very poor drainage, and was often unusable for picnicing... especially since there were few if any trees on that site. Maybe they should put up some basketball hoops in the interim.... there's enough space for quite a few basketball courts.
Donate it for what? Another DECG empty lot?
The owner did personally contact Dan Gilbert... back when he was interested in a new building either on the Hudsons or Statler/Tuller sites... to let him know that he would not be a roadblock if Gilbert wanted the Statler/Tuller site.
looks like i might be 8 or 9 on the CAY [[if you include the comment 'all the buildings...')
i HATE going by there on the people mover [[ i LOVE people watching) and seeing that nasty pig-pen of an office building. ever look at the offices? the 40s style venetian blinds hanging all catty-wampus, or the PILES of CRAP in the windows and on the desks of those who 'like the view' out of their windows...
what a terrible image to give visitors to detroits only real attraction anymore...
Here's the theme song.

Southgate Shopping Center. Why? The liquidations of Ward's, SM and FJ has left it without an anchor tenant.
I think it would pretty much remain a clean slate forever.
I don't understand why this building even exists. I don't even care if it's occupied. Kick whatever tenant is in there out, level it, and build something that has retail or restaurant that faces the street. It could even be some addition to the Guardian building.....anything is better than what's there.
...the first time was on Hamilton in HP was last summer, i was driving home from dakota inn, that street is unbelievable... but i 100% agree with wolverine.. it would be a clean slate forever.
i think that's the problem all over the city, keep tearing down stuff and noone ever develops the land, or it ends up a parking lot... jeeze, pretty soon there will be nothing left to downtown but parking lots, lots of parking and nowhere to go!
So now you're defending Penske, too?Although it does look awful, especially from the air... the land they paved over had very poor drainage, and was often unusable for picnicing... especially since there were few if any trees on that site. Maybe they should put up some basketball hoops in the interim.... there's enough space for quite a few basketball courts.
Poor drainage=wetland. Why do you wetlands?
Seriously, though, the acres of concrete are horrible. Scott Fountain may as well by moved to the parking lot of Lakeside Mall now, especially since the decorative tiles have been trashed.
