If you had only one choice, what building would you tear down and why?
Me? AAA on Bagley, why? to clear the Statler block for a unicorn park.

That arcology on the water that looks like four beer cans and a tall boy?
Probably too ambitious. Rip down that old brutalist Federal building on the west side of downtown.
Ren Cen, definitely. It is an abomination.
Barring that, the IHOP on East Jefferson.
Gnome... the owner offered the city carte blanche at it, in case it were deemed in a "Madison-Lenox" type imminent danger of collapse...
I'm not being very serious with this, but the Yamasaki Building on the CCS campus I always thought was shit. Yeah, you can't see it, because of the stupid wall around it. If you could see it, you'd discover that it's just ugly 50's "modern" glass crap. Yes, the whole thing is windows, but all they can see is the other side of the wall. Brilliant! I really like the other buildings on campus, even the crazy "tinkertoy" building, but this one I always hated.
Matty's duty free store.
most of michigan central station.. to clear the way for a new rail transit hub..
OK, but ONLY if we get the unicorn park. ... Nah, go ahead and level the whole thing. This one should go if for no other reason to make the Statler site a "prime development opportunity" five years after they brought it down.
Is the AAA still in use?
Dumb question...jus looked on Google Street....it definitely should be torn down!
Lets tear down Comerica Park and build a new Tiger Stadium at Michigan and Trumbull
CAY, with the Council in it.
looks like i might be 8 or 9 on the CAY [[if you include the comment 'all the buildings...')
i HATE going by there on the people mover [[ i LOVE people watching) and seeing that nasty pig-pen of an office building. ever look at the offices? the 40s style venetian blinds hanging all catty-wampus, or the PILES of CRAP in the windows and on the desks of those who 'like the view' out of their windows...
what a terrible image to give visitors to detroits only real attraction anymore...
Pontch [[aka Riverside.). It's embarrassing to have a large abandoned hotel across the street from your convention center. Could have been worse I guess. They could have built the covered walkway to it.
If they did that, then they couldn't do this [[you can't see it, but it is a Mercedes ad, so you can guess what the rest of it will say).
Pontcho good choice, also the Ford auditorium. Make room for something useful on the riverfront.
Every building in the city and also downgrade Detroit to a civil township.
The City-County Building [[or CAY center). Replace it with a maximum security prison for all of the elected officials convicted of crimes.
Oops, I didn't see the above posts about the same building.
